reality, and we are seeking a skilled Residential Construction
Estimator to join our growing company. Job Summary The Residential
Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate
and detailed cost estimates for residential construction projects,
including custom home renovations and outdoor living spaces. This
role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a
thorough understanding of construction processes, materials, and
labor costs. The Estimator will work closely with the owner,
designers, subcontractors, and clients to ensure estimates align
with project specifications and budgets. Key Responsibilities Cost
Estimation: Prepare comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for
residential construction projects, including materials, labor,
equipment, and subcontractor services. Architectural Plan Analysis:
Review architectural plans and specifications to determine project
scope, quantities, and requirements. Material Takeoffs: Perform
detailed material takeoffs and quantify project needs based on
design documents. Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit
and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure
competitive pricing and quality. Budget Development: Collaborate
with project managers to develop project budgets and provide
cost-saving recommendations without compromising quality. Client
Interaction: Communicate with clients to clarify project
requirements, discuss estimates, and address questions or concerns.
Process Management: Experience with Excel or estimating tools to
streamline the estimation process and maintain organized records.
Market Research: Stay updated on construction material costs, labor
rates, and industry trends to ensure estimates reflect current
market conditions. Risk Assessment: Identify potential project
risks and include contingencies in estimates to mitigate cost
overruns. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates,
assumptions, and supporting documentation for transparency and
future reference. Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years
of experience in residential construction estimating or a related
role. Education: Bachelor's degree in construction management,
civil engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent
experience will be considered. Technical Skills: Proficiency in
estimating tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of residential
construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry
standards. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex plans and
specifications to produce accurate and competitive estimates.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
for interacting with clients, team members, and vendors.
Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy
in estimates and documentation. Time Management: Ability to
prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to work
effectively with cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications
Experience with outdoor living projects, such as roofs, fireplaces,
patios, decks, pergolas, or landscaping.
