Position Summary: The Development Associate is a member of the
Development Department within Mastery Schools' External Strategies
Division. The qualified candidate, reporting to Director of
Development, will be an expert project manager with proven
development capacity, capable of delivering on competing deadlines
while supporting the following functions: Annual Giving campaigns,
EITC/OSTC Programs, gift processing and acknowledgments, prospect
and grant research, and maintaining the integrity of Mastery’s
donor and prospect database in Raiser’s Edge. In addition, the
Associate will be a partner to the Director, Chief of Staff, and
CEO in helping Mastery achieve annual fundraising goals and
ensuring all donors feel connected to the mission of Mastery and
compelled to give each year. Duties and Responsibilities Manage the
Raiser’s Edge database, overseeing gift processing, data entry
procedures, and management of records. Assist with prospect
research of individuals, corporations, and foundations. Generate
timely acknowledgement letters/tax receipts for all donations.
Create and segment lists for multiple comprehensive annual giving
campaigns (direct mail, and email) Create reports for development
planning/analysis and Board reporting. Serve as the development
liaison with finance and Foundation accountant for reconciliation
of records Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree preferred,
or a high school diploma with equivalent education and experience.
Minimum of 1-3 years of progressively responsible fundraising
experience, with a proven track record in annual fund development
and implementation, prospect research, general development
communications, and experience with gift entry, database
management, and analyzing donor data. Experience fundraising in
education-related organizations a plus. Key Competencies: Ability
to execute; great track record of getting things done. Strong
writing skills for solicitation efforts, development communications
and grant proposals Excellent interpersonal skills; can build
relationships Excellent organizational skills Mastery of Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint required; proficiency in Raiser’s Edge a plus
Other Requirements: Ability to physically perform the essential
duties of the role as outlined above, and to work in the
environmental conditions required, such as traveling to network
campuses, monitoring and interacting with students, in-person
facilitation of trainings, etc. This role may require frequent
travel between multiple locations. Reliable transportation is
