Overview H&K Group, Inc., is seeking an auto technician or diesel mechanic technical high school student for part-time cooperative education positions. Responsibilities Why work for H&K Group, Inc.? - Excellent pay and benefits - Safe and responsible operations - Career development opportunities - Potential full-time employment at the conclusion of the program Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Perform all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies - Receive oral or written direction from the shop foreman on plans for the day's tasks - Reads job order and observes and listens to equipment in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures - Assists in the instillation, repair, and preventative maintenance for various equipment and vehicles - Assists with all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensures state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers - Applies classroom techniques to regularly scheduled maintenance and repair activities - Other duties as assigned Required Skills, Education, and Experience - Enrollment in an accredited technical high school or technical high school program in auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, or related field - Basic math and communication skills - Able and willing to work an abbreviated 2nd shift schedule - Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed - Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience - 1 year completed study in the related technical field - Previous co-op or internship experience Physical Demands - Frequently required to - Stoop, crouch, kneel - Use hands to finger, feel, and grasp - Occasionally required to - Stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawl - Lift and/or move up to 75 pounds Work Environment - Noise level is loud at times - Required to work outdoors in all environments at times H&K Group, Inc. provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency, and value.
