The Managing Director, Medical Communications leads an agency and assumes a key leadership role with clients and within the network. This senior-level leader will be responsible for all medical, financial, and career oversight for the agency and their team. They will demonstrate strategic skills, foster team growth, and leverage network resources to drive innovation, meet client needs, and exceed expectations. They will work with the CMO to develop new department, agency, and network offerings aligned with IPG Health's client, brand, and people-focused vision. They will keep the President of Medical Communications informed on critical matters.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSKnowledge/ExpertiseDemonstrate understanding of assigned products, medical areas, competitors, and the agency's and network's capabilities and business. Deep understanding of the agency and network's business is essential.Strategic Skills/ToolsCollaborate with Managing Director-Accounts and CMO to develop and refine agency offerings, combining scientific knowledge with market awareness to provide strategic communication planning and expand medical strategy offerings.Client RelationshipsMaintain expert status with clients, drive account success, and foster retention and growth.Business DevelopmentSeek opportunities to optimize success in financial management, new business, and organic growth. Demonstrate leadership in pitches and client engagement.JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIESKnowledge/Expertise

• Review content developed by team members
• Train team to extract insights from medical/scientific info
• Provide strategic medical recommendations based on market trends

  • Identify and execute medical opportunities
  • Ensure team understands multiple products and disease states
  • Lead workshops and optimize data storytelling
  • Develop best practices and increase department visibilityClient Relationships
    • Develop and maintain strong client relations, especially with senior management
    • Represent the agency effectively, building trust and showcasing value - Act as a partner in client engagements, supporting growth opportunitiesBusiness Development & Operational Excellence
      • Manage P&L and agency finances
      • Support new business efforts and collaboration across IPG Health agencies
      • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities
      • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and inclusive culture
      • Communicate effectively with leadership and teamsEDUCATIONMS, MD, PhD, PharmD in Clinical or Scientific fields required.EXPERIENCEMinimum of 15+ years relevant industry experience required.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
        • Extensive experience managing clients and teams
        • Excellent communication skills
        • Ability to interpret clinical and brand insights
        • Financial management skills, including P&L oversight
        • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
