9:00 A.M – 5:00 P.M Duties & Responsibilities Purpose of Position:
Under general supervision of Human Resources, directs, administers
and coordinates operations of a volunteer services department
within a health care setting. Creates, implements and evaluates the
overall strategy for the organizations volunteer services and
initiatives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Develops
operating procedures and guidelines for adherence to objectives of
volunteer services department, ensuring comprehensive procedures
cover all aspects of volunteer management. 2. Identifies,
interviews, selects and assigns volunteers to approved departments
and managers. Develops strategies to attract and identify new
volunteers in alignment with the health care setting goals and
objectives. Follows the Volunteers policy related to onboarding,
identification, orientation, and background check. 3. Develops
formal orientation for volunteers to ensure that they are properly
prepared and integrated into the organizations mission and
operations. 4. Establishes standards of performance, functional
task descriptions/deliverable, volunteer schedules, sets priorities
and ensure managers evaluates volunteer staff in the performance of
their voluntary duties. 5. Uses volunteer hours tracking system to
validate volunteer hours contributions; provides volunteers a
period summary of their volunteer hours. 6. Reviews and evaluates
volunteer service operations to determine if functional activities
are seamlessly integrated within the overall operational programs
of the health care setting. Makes appropriate changes in
operational standards. 7. Develops new programs to expand the
placement and contribution of volunteers throughout the health care
setting. 8. Coordinates volunteer services with those of other
health care setting organizational units by partnering with
department heads and community agencies for specific volunteer
services. Ensures appropriate services and staff are available to
deliver the necessary services. 9. Serves as a mediator between
staff and volunteers to facilitate communication and help resolve
issues in a constructive manner. 10. Consults with appropriate
leadership on budgetary and related matters, including
expenditures, policy, procedures and activities of the department.
Ensures effective use of resources within budgetary guidelines. 11.
Collaborates and liaises with key leadership, community agencies,
and other health care setting services to establish regular
communication channels to keep partners informed about program
updates, needs, and achievements. 12. Participates in relevant
meetings, Volunteer Council, activities, recognition events, and
conferences to discuss progress and improvements to volunteer
programs and services and/or other matters. 13. Prepares accurate
activity reports, relevant documentation, and special studies
governing the scope of various functional activities; and reports
on program effectiveness. 14. Maintains volunteers’ confidential
records; and ensures that volunteer records are prepared and
updated for accreditation related surveys/audits. 15. Performs
other related duties, as directed. Minimum Qualifications 1. 1.
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in
Public Administration, Personnel Administration, Public Health,
Health Care Specialization, Hospitality Management, Psychology or a
related discipline; and two (2) years of experience serving in a
managerial or supervisory capacity developing, implementing, and
evaluating volunteer/community/hospitality/educational programs,
strategies, and initiatives or performing related functions in a
health care or related setting; and strong interpersonal,
communication, and leadership skills with proficiency with
technology, such as database management, outlook, Peoplesoft, and
Microsoft Office. Department Preferences Should have management
experience leading teams and directing projects Experience leading
volunteer department preferred Human Resources experience
preferred. Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams/levels
