Ingredion is hiring a Senior Scientist, R&D - Fibers and Texture to provide research and product development for fiber and other texturizing ingredients. Responsibilities will include identification of target compositions, technologies for the preparation of these compositions, and expertise in the functions and performance in context of areas such as: functional build-back of mouthfeel in sugar-reduced products, texturizing performance for high and low moisture products, with consideration towards potential health-beneficial aspects. The successful candidate will be part of a multi-disciplinary, science-based research group and will collaborate with chemists, engineers, and business professionals to commercialize critical food-based ingredients across the globe.Core Responsibilities:The Senior Scientist, R&D - Fibers and Texture will be responsible for leading the efforts to functionalize dietary fiber product and/or valorize relevant side streams for improved performance.--Apply chemistry, biochemistry, and processing expertise to improve functional dietary fiber performance or develop new fiber products.Understand carbohydrate ingredient related process side streams and explore opportunities for valorization.Improvement/modification of existing fiber production lines to functionalize products to meet customer needs.Understand and explore the interaction and synergistic effects of fiber with other components in food matrix.Work with cross-functional teams to identify and prototype compositions from concept to commercializationUse of scientific methods and validated data to guide investigationsWork in a safe manner in all aspects of the work environment such as laboratory and office settings.Record and document all stages of R&D work, operate within Knowledge Management and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).Prepare reports and presentations.--Qualified candidates will have:----Ph.D./M.S. degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field with 5 to 8 years of relevant industry experience (10+ for M.S.) with applied knowledge in plant-based carbohydrate polymer processing, development, commercialization.Experience with ingredient development of dietary fiber as functional ingredient.Experience with carbohydrate ingredient (dietary fiber) process development optimization is desired. Experience with building strong cross-functional relationships to process engineering is a plus.Experience in the function requirements/formulation attributes for different food/beverage categories is preferred.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers (both domestic and international) in a clear, focused, and concise manner.Ability to drive for results and work within appropriate guardrails and time/resource constraints. Ability to anticipate needs and advance projects and workflows.Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop teamsProficiency in use of IT tools for communication (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and familiarity with data collection/analysis (e.g. instrumentation software, MiniTab, etc.)--Ingredion provides accommodations to job applicants with disabilities throughout the hiring process.
