US-based subsidiary of the renowned German Airport Operator Munich
Airport, is responsible for the maintenance and concession
management of Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport
(EWR). We are seeking a highly motivated Sprinkler Technician to
join our team as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity
to be part of a fast-moving organization, where you will contribute
to the development of safe, efficient, and innovative passenger
terminal operations. The Sprinkler Technician plays a key role
within the Facilities Management team by managing and maintaining
the Fire Protection Systems within Terminal A. The Sprinkler
Technician will maintain fire protection systems and be the first
investigator for all fire alarms as well as the primary point of
contact for both internal and external customers and contractor.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on
the operations of one of the most advanced terminal developments in
the United States. Responsibilities: Perform monthly, quarterly,
semi-annual & annual flow testing of fire protection systems and
backflow preventors as per NFPA (see below associated NFPA), and
perform onsite emergency troubleshooting and repairs of the
Terminal A fire alarm and protection systems, identifying code and
non-conformance issues: Conducting regular inspections and tests of
the fire protection systems to ensure they are functioning
correctly and in compliance with NFPA standards. You will also
perform emergency troubleshooting and repairs as needed,
identifying and addressing any code violations or non-conformance
issues. Act as a first investigator for fire alarms/fire protection
systems within Terminal A and operate the fire protection and Fire
Alarming systems and software when needed: This involves being the
initial responder to any fire alarms or issues with the fire
protection systems. You will assess the situation, determine the
cause of the alarm, and take appropriate action to resolve the
issue. This may include operating the fire protection systems and
FACP to ensure the safety of the terminal. Strong problem solving
and decision-making abilities and able to work well with other team
members and the terminal stakeholders. Read and interpret
blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals: Ability to
understand and interpret technical documents, including blueprints,
submittals, and product manuals, to effectively maintain and
troubleshoot the fire protection systems. Ensure that work orders
for planned FLS maintenance are in place and stakeholders are
informed: This involves creating and maintaining schedules for
planned maintenance activities, ensuring that all necessary work
orders completed, and keep stakeholders informed of the status of
maintenance activities and deficiencies. Monitor the CMMS system
(Maximo) to ensure all the FLS work orders are completed on time:
Overseeing the execution of maintenance work orders, receiving and
reviewing reports on completed work, and ensuring that all
information is accurately logged into the CMMS system (Maximo).
Ensure events/incidents are logged into the CMMS system, attended
to, and resolved as per SLAs, using the standard work order
procedures Inform, communicate, and collaborate if there is an
event needing other stakeholders’ involvement: Requires effective
communication and collaboration with other stakeholders when an
event or issue requires their involvement. Monitor and oversee that
planned and ad-hoc inspections are taking place: Includes ensuring
that both scheduled and unscheduled inspections and work are
conducted as required to maintain the fire protection systems.
Overseeing the performance of Fire Life Safety subcontractors in
carrying out planned maintenance and reactive management activities
and coordinating with management to address any issues or concerns.
Monitor all FLS KPIs and SLAs for compliance: This involves
tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level
agreements (SLAs) to ensure compliance with established standards
and performance metrics. Prepare documentation for events for pre
and post stakeholder meetings Issue shift/daily reports as
required: This involves preparing and issuing reports on a daily or
shift basis to provide updates on maintenance activities, issues,
and performance metrics. Monitor Cerberus Danager Management System
& Building Management System(s) status and take appropriate action
to address any received faults through management of corrective
work order: This involves monitoring the status of the Fire Alarm
Software & Building Management Systems (BMS, SCADA and taking
appropriate action to address any faults or issues that arise,
including issuing and managing corrective work orders. Perform
building inspections including facilities maintenance and life
safety audits. Shift work required and will cover other shifts for
PTO/vacations, as required: This requires flexibility to work
different FM positions and shifts as needed, including covering for
other team members during paid time off (PTO) or vacations.
Qualifications: NICET Level II/NICET Level III Certification is
preferred . Fire Sprinkler Inspection and Testing Familiarity with
NFPA Requirements for Fire Protection & Life Safety Systems.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the testing, inspection, and
maintenance of fire sprinklers/clean agent, fire extinguishers, and
related equipment. Back-flow certification is preferred and must be
able to obtain S12, S13, and S14 certification within the first six
months if you don’t already have it. Be able to sit, stand, walk,
bend, climb stairs for extended periods, and lift at least thirty
(30) lbs. Possess a GED, high school diploma, or equivalent.
Transportation Valid NJ or NY Driver's License Be eligible to work
in the United States. Familiarity with NFPA or willingness to
learn: 1. Fire Alarm & Detection Systems NFPA 72 – National Fire
Alarm and Signaling Code (Covers installation, testing,
maintenance, and performance of fire alarm systems, including
emergency voice/alarm communication systems [EVACS].) 2. Fire
Sprinkler & Water-Based Suppression Systems NFPA 13 – Standard for
the Installation of Sprinkler Systems (Maintenance of automatic
sprinkler systems.) NFPA 14 – Standard for the Installation of
Standpipe and Hose Systems NFPA 15 – Standard for Water Spray Fixed
Systems for Fire Protection NFPA 25 – Standard for the Inspection,
Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems
NFPA 291 – Standard for Fire Flow Testing and Marking of Hydrants
3. Special Fire Suppression Systems NFPA 17 – Standard for Dry
Chemical Extinguishing Systems NFPA 17A – Standard for Wet Chemical
Extinguishing Systems (Common in kitchen suppression systems.) NFPA
30 – Flammable and Combustible Liquids Code (Includes fire
protection requirements for liquid storage.) NFPA 96 – Standard for
Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking
Operations (Covers kitchen hood suppression systems.) NFPA 2001 –
Standard on Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems (Covers FM-200,
NOVEC 1230, and other gas-based suppression systems.) 4. Portable

systems [EVACS].) The base salary range for this role is $30 to $40
hourly. Base salary is part of our total rewards package which also
includes the opportunity for annual salary increases and bonuses.
